Will this is just too much testosterone for one couple! Danish actress and former Brigitte Nielsen is spilling the tea on her own passionate romance with embattled ex-California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, just as divorce looms for the beefed-up actor and his wife of 25 years, Maria Shriver. Nielsen claims that although Schwarzenegger had been dating Shriver for nearly a decade at the time, she embarked on a passionate affair with the one-time bodybuilder during the making of their 1985 action epic Red Sonja.
“Since we both knew that wouldn’t last beyond the movie, we didn’t hold back,” Nielsen now admits “We wanted to try everything and so we did. There were no restrictions, no promises, nothing, and it was a great time in my life.”
Brigitte — whose romantic conquests include Sly Stallone, Sean Penn, and Flavor Flav (Shudder…) — says she felt betrayed when she found out that Arnie had been two-timing her with Maria (Or two-timing Maria with her, depending on who’s telling the story…), who he married a year later.
“How serious it was with her, I don’t know. He never spoke about her – and the way he was living his life with me, I felt I was the only one. Then I realized about him and Maria and, wow, I felt cheated. Maybe I wouldn’t have got into it if he said ‘I’m going to marry Maria and this is dead serious’, but he didn’t, and our affair carried on.”
When asked if he ever proposed her for marriage, Nielsen replied: “Absolutely not. If he had, he wouldn’t have become Governor of California.”
Schwarzenegger and Shriver announced their separation last month, shortly before the actor/politician confessed that he fathered a son with the family housekeeper 13 years ago. Inevitably expecting a divorce from his estranged wife, Schwarzenegger officially hired Bob Kaufman to represent him in dissolution of marriage proceedings, TMZ.com revealed this week. With up to $800 million at stake for the couple, Kaufman has already been in contact with Shriver’s lawyer, Laura Wasser, and TMZ reports the high-powered attorneys are “moving forward” with divorce negotiations.
